Sandy Nees Painting Exhibit
Sandy Nees painting exhibit ~ 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Fridays through May 8at Lakeway City Hall, 1102 Lohmans Crossing, in Lakeway. Lakeway City Hall Art Gallery welcomes the debut of local painter Sandy Nees with an exhibit of oils, acrylics and watercolors. When Nees was a hairstylist in Illinois at her first job, her boss insisted everyone who is a hairstylist is an artist and should take lessons. So began heradventure into painting. When she made that very first stroke of a blade of grass and felt the thrill of the brush on the canvas she decided to keep on painting. Then she moved to Houston and tried acrylic, oil and palette knife from Candy Tanguay, a well known Houston artist. Since then, Nees has changed to watercolor painting. She has taken lessons and workshops from local artists Johnnie Fields, Danny Jones, Tony Couch and Janet Campbell to name a few. Nees has traveled to Venice, Italy, San Miguel, Mexico, and Taos, N.M., to paint and locally to Port Aransas and Alpine, Texas, for a fun workshop with the Lakeway Painters.
